The Peekskill Robins tapped into one of their rich recruiting sources this afternoon when it was announced that three members of the Lamar University Cardinals have committed to play for them in 2009. The trio, who are all Juniors are: outfielder Quinton Laquette, catcher Joey Latulippe, and infielder Austin Roff. The Robins began their relationship back in 2003 with Lamar with the signings of outfielders, Jordan Foster [ACBL Batting Champion] and Brett Winn. Since that time the tradition has continued and the Robins are very pleased to make this acquisition.
Laquette played for San Jacinto C.C. last Spring and batted .384 with 7 home runs and 45 RBI. For his efforts he earned Region XIV All Star honors and he will be in the starting outfield for the Cardinals this Spring.
Latulippe, who was also a Region XIV All Star, was a standout at Angelina College and the battery mate of former Robin, Frank Corolla. Lamar expects him to handle half of their catching duties this Spring.
Roff, who hails from Colorado Springs, Colorado has been a Region VII All Star at both shortstop and third base. He led Seward C.C. in total hits for the last 2 seasons and in addition to earning 2 time All State honors, was also recognized by Perfect Game Inc. as one of the country's top 200 prospects. Roff is projected to play one of the infield spots for the Cardinals in 2009.
The Peekskill Robins welcome all 3 players to this year's team.
