Clear Creek Wildcats Baseball

All three Creek teams crushed Galveston Ball in district game two. Line scores and quick recaps for all three games are below the fold.

The JV continued its undefeated streak, trouncing Galveston 7-2. Junior pitcher, Cole Waidhofer, pitched nine strike outs in seven innings and zero walks.  He allowed only one earned-run, and that was a late solo homer in the seventh inning.  No harm done.

Catcher Game DeJesus turned in the best at-bat for the evening, going two for three with singles.  But otherwise, the JV's big bats were conspicuously shut down...by WALKS and HBPs!  Galveston's pitchers gave up nine walks in six innings and hit four Creek batters (Will Magee twice).

The Sophomore team won it's first game of district play in a easy win against Galveston, 9-2.  Sophomore pitcher, Brock Wadyka, struck out seven batters in five innings, and walked only one.  Like the JV, the Sophomore bats were mostly quiet since the struggling Galveston pitchers walked 13.

The next games are on Monday for the sub-Varsity  - they play Dickinson at home - and Tuesday at Dickinson for the Varsity.

It's always nice to beat up on Galveston in anything because I can remember when it was the big dog in the county. The Tors were in the highest classification and Clear Creek was 2A in days of yore. Galveston had a very good American Legion program and would beat up on us. I heard its ace pitcher yell from the dugout, "You country hicks!" So, we swept those clowns! Wonderful! Plumb loverly!

And if we don't beat old rival Dickinson next week, it will be Heidi's fault.

I actually felt sorry for Galveston during the Sophomore game. Their pitchers were really struggling - I haven't seen that many walks since Texas League. Their outfield looked like it was going to sit down and start picking dandelions!

I have to wonder what effect Hurricane Ike had on Galveston's athletics. Did most of their players return, or did they lose a bunch?

As for Dickinson, I know they are new to the 5A division this year, so I'm wondering what their talent pool has produced.

Can't wait!
