All three Creek teams crushed Galveston Ball in district game two. Line scores and quick recaps for all three games are below the fold. Go Wildcats! On the Varsity, senior pitcher Ryan Gunhouse pitched a 6-0 shut out, allowing only one hit, and the defense committed only one error, holding Galveston to a scoreless seven innings. Creek got ten hits and Greg Olson contributed a solo homer - his fifth HR of the season!
Catcher Game DeJesus turned in the best at-bat for the evening, going two for three with singles. But otherwise, the JV's big bats were conspicuously shut down...by WALKS and HBPs! Galveston's pitchers gave up nine walks in six innings and hit four Creek batters (Will Magee twice).
Congratulations to all Creek players for notching a win in the second games of district play! The next games are on Monday for the sub-Varsity - they play Dickinson at home - and Tuesday at Dickinson for the Varsity. Go Creek!

I actually felt sorry for Galveston during the Sophomore game. Their pitchers were really struggling - I haven't seen that many walks since Texas League. Their outfield looked like it was going to sit down and start picking dandelions!
I have to wonder what effect Hurricane Ike had on Galveston's athletics. Did most of their players return, or did they lose a bunch? As for Dickinson, I know they are new to the 5A division this year, so I'm wondering what their talent pool has produced. Can't wait!

Don't EVER feel sorry for Galveston! Or Dickinson, or LaMarque, or LaPorte, or Deer Park, or a number of old rivals that I loved to beat in days of yore. NOT NONE!!

Carry on, I'll be in the area all day.
I would be in the area more if you would ever get that general message board operating. Something you solemnly promised to do, by the way.

The forums are on my list of things to do. In fact, they are next, right after I finish the Team Rosters. That's what I'm working on now - it's taking up a lot of my time.
I have to fit all of this in around my REAL job - you know, the one that actually pays me money?

Heidi, I hope you have figured out by now that I like to kid people. If you don't believe me, ask Lynn Davis. I pound him all the time.
You are doing a GREAT job with the site and I think you will find that the general message board will be a significant bonus. Write comment

And if we don't beat old rival Dickinson next week, it will be Heidi's fault.
