Creek's fall Varsity went all the way to the semi's in the TASO Scholarship Tournament this year. Sponsored by the Texas Association of Sports Officials, the tourney raises scholarship money for disadvantaged students and is highly attended by all of the Houston area's top 4A and 5A schools. Creek won five of its six total games, running out of gas in the final game on Sunday against The Woodlands Highlanders 11-5. The scores for the other games are below: Ross Sterling 5-4 Milby 6-0 Goose Creek 6-4 Galveston Ball 9-1 Bellaire 3-2 Randy Byers, of Houston 5A Baseball, called Clear Creek the "upstarts" of the tournament: "Two, one-run games highlighted the quarter final action at BBUSA on Sunday. In the 10AM time slot, the Woodlands squared off with Region II foe, Spring and slipped by the Lions with a 7-6 victory in the bottom of the seventh. In the 12:30 time slot, 2008 TASO runner-up, Bellaire squared off with the upstart Clear Creek Wildcats. Clear Creek held on to a 3-2 lead through the final three innings to eliminate Bellaire. Excellent show, Wildcats. Next year, you'll go all the way to Minute Maid!
